Data Sharing and Availability Policy
Integritas Terbuka: Peace and Interfaith Studies (INT) supports transparency, research integrity, and responsible data management. The journal encourages authors to make the data and materials underlying their research available whenever this is ethically, legally, and practically possible.
Authors should provide sufficient information regarding the availability of data supporting the findings reported in their manuscripts. Where relevant, authors are expected to include a Data Availability Statement indicating whether the data are publicly available, available upon reasonable request, subject to restricted access, or unavailable because of ethical, legal, privacy, confidentiality, or security considerations.
Data Availability
Authors may be asked to provide supporting data to the Editorial Team or reviewers when such data are necessary to assess the reliability, validity, or integrity of a manuscript.
Where research data can be shared, authors are encouraged to deposit the data in an appropriate institutional, disciplinary, or general-purpose repository. When available, authors should provide a DOI, persistent URL, accession number, or other stable identifier that enables readers to locate the data.
Data sets used or generated in the research should be appropriately cited where applicable.
Data Available Upon Reasonable Request
When public data sharing is not appropriate but data can still be shared under controlled conditions, authors may indicate that the data are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
The corresponding author may assess whether a request is reasonable by considering the purpose of the request, applicable ethical requirements, participant consent, privacy, confidentiality, legal restrictions, and other legitimate considerations.
Ethical and Confidentiality Restrictions
Because Integritas Terbuka: Peace and Interfaith Studies publishes research in areas such as religion, interfaith relations, peacebuilding, conflict, social relations, communities, and related fields, some research may involve sensitive or identifiable information.
Authors are not required to make research data publicly available when disclosure would:
- violate the privacy or confidentiality of research participants;
- conflict with informed consent agreements;
- expose individuals, religious communities, minority groups, or vulnerable populations to potential harm;
- disclose sensitive religious, cultural, social, political, institutional, or personal information;
- violate applicable legal, contractual, or institutional requirements;
- compromise anonymization or allow participants to be re-identified; or
- create other legitimate ethical, privacy, security, or safety concerns.
Where data cannot be shared, authors should provide an appropriate explanation in the Data Availability Statement.
Qualitative Research Data
For qualitative studies, including interviews, focus group discussions, ethnographic research, participant observation, narratives, case studies, and other forms of field-based research, authors should exercise particular caution when sharing raw data.
Interview transcripts, field notes, audio or video recordings, participant identities, and other sensitive materials should not be made publicly available when such disclosure could compromise confidentiality, informed consent, or participant safety.
Where appropriate, authors may provide anonymized, aggregated, or selectively disclosed data rather than complete raw data.
Data Availability Statement
Where applicable, authors should include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript.
Examples include:
Data Availability Statement: The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.
or:
Data Availability Statement: The data are not publicly available because they contain information that could compromise the privacy and confidentiality of the research participants.
or:
Data Availability Statement: The data supporting the findings of this study are available in [repository name] at [DOI or persistent identifier].
or:
Data Availability Statement: No new data were created or analyzed in this study. Data sharing is therefore not applicable.
Responsibility for Research Data
Authors remain responsible for the accuracy, integrity, documentation, ethical management, and appropriate preservation of the data associated with their research.
The availability of a data set does not necessarily mean that the data have been independently peer reviewed by the journal. Unless otherwise stated, authors remain solely responsible for the content and reliability of the data they provide.
Data Integrity and Editorial Action
If concerns arise regarding the accuracy, availability, authenticity, or integrity of research data, the Editorial Team may request clarification, supporting documentation, or access to relevant data where ethically and legally permissible.
Where serious concerns about data integrity cannot be resolved, the journal may take appropriate editorial action in accordance with its Publication Ethics and Retraction, Withdrawal, and Correction Policy.
Compliance with Publication Ethics
Integritas Terbuka: Peace and Interfaith Studies supports responsible research practices concerning data availability, transparency, confidentiality, and reproducibility. Data-sharing requirements will always be balanced against ethical obligations to protect research participants, communities, confidential information, and sensitive research contexts.
