Abstract

Kehadiran media sosial dapat menciptakan alienasi pada penggunanya. Sebaliknya, alienasi dapat menjadi pemicu penggunaan media sosial yang berlebihan. Karena alienasi muncul bila hubungan sosial dengan orang lain kurang baik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji alienasi pengguna yang merujuk pada mereka yang mencari tempat kenyamanan di mana mereka merasa dihargai dan didengarkan, khususnya melalui media sosial. Metode penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif dengan proses pengumpulan data secara literatur. Hasil penelitian ini bahwa media sosial bagi mereka yang mengalami alienasi hidupnya kembali mental serta rasa percaya diri, sekalipun berbincang dengan orang yang tidak dikenal secara langsung, namun hanya dengan tutur kata yang baik dan sopan mereka sudah bisa merasa didengarkan dan dihargai. Selain itu pula dampak baiknya seluruh masyarakat menjadi cepat tanggap melihat seluruh berita hangat yang disajikan media masa.
